In Eastern Ontario, the best snowmobile trails can be found in Prescott and Russell. Fans of Ottawa and all the surrounding areas flock there for the abundance of snow and the 380 km of varied trails.
PERIOD OF OPERATION
The opening of the recreational trail for snowmobile usually takes place after December 1 (depending on snow accumulation).
REGULATIONS
To ride the trails, the snowmobiler must have a valid driver's licence, be insured and registered, and hold a Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail permit, issued by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO). Children 12 and older can obtain a motorized snow vehicle operator’s licence from MTO and ride with an adult who is in good standing. The snowmobiler must wear a protective helmet at all times.

EASTERN ONTARIO SNOWMOBILE CLUB
The Eastern Ontario Snowmobile Club (EOSC) is responsible for maintaining the Recreational Trail for winter use.
Established in 1983 through the amalgamation of five regional clubs in the Prescott and Russell region, the EOSC finances its activities through the sale of trail permits. He is also a member of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs.
The EOSC is considered to be one of the largest snowmobile clubs in the Ontario federation, with a system of interconnected trails totaling 380 km and covering all the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR), including the Larose Forest and the Recreainal Trail. Ontario Tourism even calls this last section “Ontario's distinctive trail”.
Over the years, the hard work of volunteers has helped make Eastern Ontario a safe and enjoyable place to snowmobile. The annual impact of snowmobiling in the UCPR region is estimated at over $ 12 million.
